Meteosat Third Generation
The objective of the MTG mission is to provide Europe, and, by extension, the International Community, with an operational satellite system able to support accurate prediction of meteorological phenomena and the monitoring of climate and air composition through operational applications for the period of time between 2017 and 2037.
The mission will be fulfilled by a series of 4 imaging satellites (supporting the Flexible Combined Imager (FCI) and the Lightning Imager (LI)) (MTG-I) and 2 sounding satellites (supporting the Infrared Sounder (IRS) and accommodating the Sentinel-4 UVN instrument) (MTG-S) for a minimum of 20 years nominal operational lifetime.
Celestia Antwerp has designed, developed and manufactured 5 TTC SCOEs (Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Special Check-Out Equipment) for OHB System AG which is the MTG-S Prime Contractor and Common Platform Prime Contractor.
The 5 TTC SCOEs are used for the testing and verification of the S_band TM/TC chain and are actually divided in 3 BaseBand-Only Configurations and 2 Full-RF Configurations.
The Baseband-Only Configuration consists of the SCOE controller capability together with the TM/TC front end. This configuration provides the RF bypass interface to the unit under test.
The Full-RF Configuration consists of the SCOE controller capability together with the TM/TC and RF front ends, and all of the RF test and measurement equipment. This configuration provides the RF bypass and the RF interfaces to the unit under test.
In 2021, Celestia Antwerp was contracted to build a 6th SCOE (Baseband-only model).
